Troops To Teachers

There are many different career options for retired military personal.  Many choose to pursue jobs in law enforcement, criminal justice, law, business.  Many of the skills and experiences gained in the US Military are great training for a career as a FBI Agent, US Air Marshal, Customs Agent, Forensic Officer, Crime Scene Investigator.  The list goes on and on.  But if you are a retired military veteran, you might also consider beginning a second career in public education as a teacher. Even if you do not have your college degree in education, you can earn your degree, and start a career as a teacher in as little as 12 to 24 months. Many vets will also be eligible to have their schooling paid for via the Post 9/11 GI Bill.

Yesterday I talked about the “Hire America’s Heros” program.  Today I wanted to highlight another great group that is focused on a very important aspect of our success as a county.  Troops To Teachers is another organization that is assisting our military men & women find career opportunities as teachers.  Without a quality educational system our young people will not be able to lead our country in the future.

Troops To Teachers is:

A U.S. Department of Education and Department of Defense program that helps eligible military personnel begin a new career as teachers in public schools where their skills, knowledge and experience are most needed.
